THANK YOU MOCKTOBERFEST!
A small event among friends raised $15,000 for The Tommy Fund, which provides help for families while their children are undergoing treatment at the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven.
It was the inspiration of Christine Charles of Monroe and her sister Marian Kochor to organize "Mocktoberfest," which took place in March in Derby. The event was attended by 100 people and a raffle ticket sales raised $6,000 alone. All prizes, which included gifts certificates and gift baskets were donated. Many generous people gave their time and donated food and drinks, including The Hops Company in Derby, which hosted Mocktoberfest and provided wait staff. Guests enjoyed Zuppardi's pizza and Ricky D's ribs, Two Roads beer, and dessert from Pantry in Fairfield.
Christine is a longtime Tommy Fund volunteer who has organized golf tournaments and events that have raised significant funds to support families going through the toughest time of their lives.
“Small events among friends with donated products are critical for raising money for The Tommy Fund, an invaluable source of support for families whose children have cancer,” said Peter Parente, President of The Tommy Fund. “Kudos to Christine and Marian and all the wonderful vendors who made Mocktoberfest happen. They understand the importance of The Tommy Fund. We thank everyone involved.”
