Goals Met
We are an organization raising funds for patients & families since 1953.
We have committed to a leadership donation of $1 million to fund The Tommy Fund Pediatric Hematology Oncology Center at Smilow Cancer Hospital, Yale-New Haven.
We raised the necessary funds to initiate a new palliative care program at Smilow Cancer Hospital, Yale-New Haven and support its efforts on regular basis.
We provided seed money for the HEROS (Health, Education, Research and Outcomes Survivors) clinic in 2003 and maintain ongoing support.
We have provided direct financial support to the Smilow Cancer Hospital Network in the areas of fellowships, research and medical teammates.
ONGOING COMMITMENT
The First Pillar of the Tommy Fund, is to support families whose children are undergoing cancer treatment at The Tommy Fund for Childhood Cancer clinic located on the seventh floor of Smilow Cancer Hospital, Yale-New Haven by providing direct payment for rent, mortgage and utility bills, so that parents can take time off from work to tend to their child.
The Second Pillar of the Tommy Fund for Childhood Cancer acts as a helping hand to the pediatric oncology section of the department of pediatrics at the Yale School of Medicine and the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven & Trumbull center. Pediatric oncology social workers work alongside the Tommy Fund to ensure the needs of the family are met at such a critical time in their child’s life. The clinic sees several hundred newly-diagnosed children each year and the need grows each year to offer this support. Additionally, direct funding to the care team as well as Smilow Cancer Hospital Network as hospital needs change- the Tommy Fund offers grants of assistance directly to the hospital so they can meet the changing needs of its patients.
The Third Pillar of the Tommy Fund is our support and direct assistance to our Survivorship Program and HEROS clinic, the Tommy Fund will remain a resource and financial arm to this area of the childhood cancer and will remain committed to supporting the Smilow Cancer Hospital Network childhood cancer survivors and families long after diagnosis and treatment.
